Current Position: I am Senior Scientist at SiriusXM / Pandora.

Research Bio: I am a music information retrieval researcher with a background in digital signal processing. From 2016-2021 I held an FCT Investigator Development Grant, first at INESC TEC (2016-2019) and subsequently at the Centre for Informatics and Systems of the University of Coimbra (CISUC) from (2020-2021). My main research interests include the analysis of rhythm in musical audio signals, evaluation methodology, creative music applications, music therapy, and reproducible research. Across these areas I have published over 70 refereed conference and journal articles, and as of Decemer 2023, I have over 3000 citations, with an h-index of 31 and i-10 index of 56. My most recent research in academia was in the development of compact deep neural networks for the analysis of rhythmic structure. From 2014-2019, I coordinated the Sound and Music Computing Group at INESC TEC, and was an Invited Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, in Portugal. In 2017 I was General Chair of CMMR and a keynote speaker at RPPW. From 2014-2018, I was an Associate Editor for IEEE/ACM Transactions on Audio Speech and Language Processing, and served on the editorial board for TISMIR, the Transactions of the International Society for Music Information Retrieval (2020-2022).
